He is survived by a sister, Mary Shreve and husband Eugene; three step-children, Patricia A. (Beckman) Helbig, Sandra K. (Beckman) DeWitt and Richard W. Beckman, Jr.; grandchildren, Rebecca Helbig and husband Kevin Nolan, Valerie Helbig, Frederick Helbig, Jr. and wife Melody, Eric DeWitt and wife Melody, Aaron DeWitt and wife Samantha, Tanya Layton and husband Rick, Tara DeWitt, Richard W. Beckman, III and wife Teresa, and Heather Frantz and husband Donnie; fifteen great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Edna (Shrout) Beckman Lohr, in 2002; an infant sister, Dorothy Lohr; sister, M. Lucille Shannon; and five brothers, Daniel E., Luther D., Roger W., Lewis C., and James H. Lohr.

Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 PM, 6 to 8 PM and Wednesday from 10 to 11 AM at C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 North Second Street, Oakland, MD. The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Wednesday at C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 North Second Street, Oakland, MD with Pastor Dennis Caton officiating. Interment will be in Alexander Lohr Cemetery, Swanton Donations in memory of Mr. Lohr may be made to Hospice of Garrett County.
