I was surprised to read of Dale's recent passing. My condolences to his wife Susan and son Sean and to his daughter Heather and to the entire Perando family.
Dale's service to his country speaks volumes to the man's character. I only knew him briefly as a friend, but do recall his welcoming demeanor as a host at his home in Deer Park, MD; always ready to offer up another drink or story for his guests.
Dale was one of the good guys for sure. I was glad to know him and I salute him via my words written here.

What an amazing man! So many of us have been blessed to know you Dale Perando. Your sweet smile & scrumptious sausage gravy over taters created a camping experience like none other! As Rex Bowman's daughter I can say you were the best friend to the most amazing father & friend in my life and I am so grateful to you for that. You were always there when he needed you and I just cant thank you enough! Your laughter was contagious and your stories were so entertaining. I pray blessings over your wife and children. May they always treasure your presence in their hearts and may your impact in their lives live on for generations! Love Sherry & Dana Douglas, Manchester, TN

I had the great honor of working with Dale at MES for many years. He was such a wonderful guy - always happy and always helpful. For some reason every conversation I had with him would end up centered around food. Dale introduced me to ramps and would send me a big bagful of them every spring until he retired. Susan, Heather, and Sean, and to all the extended Perando family - please know the staff at MES who worked with Dale still have great stories about him, and these stories still bring a smile to us all. He was loved by all of us, and will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

My sincere and heartfelt condolences to the Perando Family. I first met Dale in 1986 at MES, when he showed me around about 10 state parks in Western Maryland. We often joked that, being both of us born on All Saint's Day didn't come with a guarantee that one would be a saint, but I can certainly say that Dale was a saint of a man, and one of the best guys I've ever known.

I have known Mr.Dale since I was a young boy. He took my father and I on many trips to the lake when I was young. The things he taught me and the memories we made I will always treasure. He was a great friend to our family and will be greatly missed. He always knew how to make you laugh. We lost a good man on this earth but God gained a great addition to his family. I'll see when I get there.

I met Dale while doing public affairs stories for the 167th ANG. I would always pick CE to do my annual training because of the great CE members like Dale. I took photos of him and his group in Alaska, Panama, Germany, North Dakota, etc and of course he would be there in the thick of the action and construction. My condolences to the family; he will be missed by many of us!

So sorry of Dales passing. He will be missed deeply by all his friends and family.
I have to share this. The last time I believe I saw Dale was at our Uncle Dales Stark's funeral . Dale had not seen me since I was a kid. He was with a women who I had no idea who she was. Anyway he didn't remember who I was so I played it. I said Dale don't you remember me from the other night at the bar. We had a good time all night long. His face was priceless.
Please give my email address to Eva May Clary. grannycalhoun@gmail.com and I am on FB as Karen Calhoun . I will not be able to be there but will say a prayer for the family.
