Jay is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Ada (Ford) Maffett; five children, Kristine L. Fay and husband Michael of Fernandina Beach, FL, Wayne J. Maffett of Germantown, MD, Ellen L. Allen and husband EJ of Johnson City, TN, Janet L. Gregory and husband Jeff of Oakland and Carol L. Maffett of Chester, VA; seven grandchildren, Amanda L. Klotz and husband Tim of Friendsville, Justin N. Gregory and wife Lindsey, Jeffrey S. Gregory, Felicia L. Marple, and CJ Marple and wife Melissa, all of Oakland, and Eric J. Allen and James H. Allen of Johnson City, TN; four great grandchildren with a fifth one due in September; his sister, Gloria Lewis and husband Richard of Johnson City, TN; a sister-in-law, Phyllis B. Maffett of Oakland; and eight nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jay was preceded in death by one brother, William R. Maffett.
