Obituary of Russell Edward Costello

Russell Edward Costello, 87, of Swanton, MD died on Thursday, October 5, 2017, at Garrett Regional Medical Center in Oakland.  Born on August 29, 1930, in Nethkin, WV, he was the youngest surviving son of the late William and Beulah (Rhodes) Costello.  He retired from US Steel National Works in McKeesport, PA after 32 years of service.  He is survived by three children, Joe Costello and wife Tina of West Mifflin, PA, Jerry Costello and wife Colleen of Homosassa Springs, FL, and Carol Bates and husband George of Greenock, PA; five grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents and siblings, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean (Helmick) Costello Ervin; a grandson, Jerry “Jake” Costello; and special friend, Marcella Kathern Stewart.  There will be no visitation or service at the request of the deceased.  Mr. Costello’s family would like to thank the Tri Towns Ambulance Service for their care.  Also, a special thank you to the Brown, Mellinger, Brantner, Stewart, Savage, Lancaster and Finch families for their loving care of Russell.  Memorial donations may be made to the Garrett Regional Medical Center, 251 N 4th St., Oakland, MD 21550.  The C & S FREDLOCK FUNERAL HOME, P.A., Oakland is assisting with arrangements.
