Joseph is survived by his bride of 46 years, Rose Mary (Brown) Mayne; one son, Johnny Mayne and wife Melanie of Oakland; grandchildren, Tailor and Hannah Mayne; and a sister, Annie Mayne. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Luther, Harvey, James, John, Walter, Archie and Melvin Mayne, Mary Fisher, Margerite Parrish and Dorothy Westley.

Obituary of Joseph Edward Mayne

Joseph Edward Mayne, 85, of Oakland, died on Thursday, July 27, 2017, at the Oakland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  Born on February 26, 1932 in Rowlesburg, WV, he was the son of the late William Walter and Clara E. (Patterson) Mayne. Joseph attended Rowlesburg School and graduated from Garrett College with a certificate in retail sales. He had worked for Sterling Processing in Oakland and attended Crellin United Brethren Church where he was a member of the men’s golf team.  Joseph loved spending time with his family playing board and card games.  He also enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing and golfing.  Joseph is survived by his bride of 46 years, Rose Mary (Brown) Mayne; one son, Johnny Mayne and wife Melanie of Oakland; grandchildren, Tailor and Hannah Mayne; and a sister, Annie Mayne.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Luther, Harvey, James, John, Walter, Archie and Melvin Mayne, Mary Fisher, Margerite Parrish and Dorothy Westley. A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 31, 2017 at 11 AM at the Bayard Cemetery with Pastor Ed Calhoun officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Cindy’s Fund, PO Box 182, Oakland, MD 21550 or to the Southern Garrett County Rescue Squad, PO Box 378, Oakland, MD 21550.  The family would like to give special thanks to the ONRC staff for their compassionate care and to Pastor Ed for faithfully visiting Joseph.  The C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland, has been entrusted with arrangements.  Condolences for the family may be left at www.csfredlockfh.com
