Alta is survived by a daughter, Annis Rae Colaw; three sons, Darvin Paul Friend and wife Eleanor, Richard Eugene Friend and wife Betty and Michael Lee Friend, all of Oakland; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Friend, in 1963; a grandson, Bill Ravenscroft; and a son-in-law, Fred Colaw. She was the last surviving member of her family.
