We are so very sorry to hear of your loss. We had a lot of respect for Henry. And we were happy we chose to live in his development in Canaan Valley because we feel you all have always been very fair and straightforward in working with us. We didn't know him well, but could tell he was a sincere and very good person. We are sure he will be missed greatly and our hearts go out to you. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help, especially regarding Canaan Mountain Resort.

Dear Moomau family.
I am terribly sorry to hear of Henry's death. Henry was a fine man and friend. I remember when I was just a young teacher in Petersburg in 1965. we both had a love for and owned British sports cars. He and I became good friends, and he used his influence with the WV
Department of Motor Vehicles to allow me to keep my drivers license despite numerous speeding tickets. When I moved to the Oakland area, he surveyed the property on which I built my house.
I could not afford to travel in the same social circle as Henry did, but when we met, he was always open and gracious, never condescending. I truly appreciated his friendship and his kindness. The family of man will be somewhat diminished by his absence.
May God grant you His peace that passes all understanding, and the assurance that he is in a better place where you may see him again.
Please accept my most sincere condolences.

Dear Moomau Family - Henry was such a dear close friend. I'll always and fondly remember those breakfasts together when we would solve the ills of the world, share family news, and talk about how important the small things in life were. Henry was a quiet man with a big heart, someone who would quietly and unselfishly help those in need. The stories are endless.
The good things that we say about a man after he dies should have already been said. But Henry would not have wanted that attention. He leaves a wonderful legacy of family, children, grandchildren and friends. A quiet lion has passed, but we look confidently toward the day when we will all be together again. I’m personally looking forward to a couple cups of coffee and some warm rolls on a sunny afternoon.

Dear Linda and family,
How do we even begin to express how we are feeling right now? Shock, saddness, disbelief, sorrow....the list goes on.
We've been talking about Henry all day. Henry was truly a great guy! We treasure the fact that Henry considered us his friends and that we were blessed with such a friend as he. He was such a down to earth man, but also so wise & intelligent, with a gentle spirit and a good sense of humor mixed in.
Chris will never forget their conversations and the sound advice Henry freely gave to him. Henry may never have known this, but Chris looked to him for advice because Chris's own father has been gone for many years and not here to give guidance. Chris respected Henry's advice and opinions greatly. His friendship will be sorely missed.
I will always remember the fun we had at the lakehouse and the farm. Those are good memories, not to be forgotten.
Linda, you know our thoughts & prayers are with you. If you need anything, you let us know.
We love you and we'll be seeing you soon.
Chris & Karen

Dear Moomau Family --- as you probably know I am the MOTHER-IN-LAW. I need to be up front and tell you that my husband and I were not thrilled to have Henry involved with our daughter, Linda. He was so much older, he already had 8 children, why in the world would he want to take on Linda and her two young girls? But, in retrospect, I can tell you -- just talk a look at the love affair that Henry and Linda had --- he was older that's true but they truly were soul mates. Anyone who saw the two of them had to see and respect that. He was a gentlemen, so kind, so gentle, so quiet and caring, they were so different, she tended to be demonstrative, loud and not quiet but they touched each others llifes and both of them were better for that. We will forever miss him, he added so much to our lifes, know what he meant to you and your life, we have such very fond memories which will sustain us --- he was loved so much and he did love! I will miss you Henry and who you were! Be at peace, take comfort in a life well lived. Audrey

I can remember when I first met Henry. I was waiting tables at the grill room in Proudfoot's Pharmacy. He always treated me with respect and kindness, even though I was scared to death of spilling coffee and messing up his orders. I really stunk at that job, but from it I met so many people who would be in my life for many years to come. Henry was one of those characters that I will never forget. And the town of Oakland will never be the same. He contributed so much to the growth of our community. His legacy will live on through all of his work and more importantly his beautifull family that he leaves behind. God bless you all and comfort you through this difficult time and know you are not grieving alone.

Dear Henry,
Thank you for three and a half decades of friendship, advice and trust. I will miss our conversations about life, politics, farming and the eastern shore. I am, however, so much better for having known you, having laughed with you and for the time you shared with me when there were so many other things you could have been doing.
Your physical presence will be missed but my memory of your engineer boots hiking into my office, our Friday night basketball games and colorful discussions of Garrett County poliitics will sustain me. You can never be replaced but I for one benefited from your life and your experiences.
In 1975, you walked into my snow covered, one room office, shook my hand and assured me things would get better for me and that one day we would look back and appreciate that chilly office. I only learned months later that you called Benny Bennett, my landlord, and ask him to check the heat at my office. Well Henry, I never was cold again.
As I travel through my life and hear and see things that remind me of you, I will always smile. Thumbs up Henry. Fair Winds and Calm Seas my friend.
