Debbie,
I can't imagine the hurt you and your family are feeling. I have only known you and your family for a short time. But I can tell your silbling bond is strong. I always knew when Paul was on the phone he had the kindest voice and always asked how I was doing. Everytime I saw him he always had a smile on his face.
I am very sorry for your loss. He will truly be missed by many.
Your friend,
Elizabeth

Paul Jr. was my 1st cousin, but more like a brother. I have many, many memories of carrying on with him. One of my favorites is when I was in desperate need of a car, but was extremely limited on funds. Lenny (another cousin & someone like a brother to Paul & myself) went to a car auction in Pennsylvania in March of 2009. I know Paul was dubious about going because of his fear of traveling too far out of town (he & I both had no sense of direction & were worried about the trip because we were depending on our cousin Lenny (another story)). Results ended up great, but not without incidents during the day. In the end Paul & I were frazzled, because it was freezing whether, we both were shaking like leaves because we were not properly dressed & didn’t even have gloves. We had been there from around noon that day until 10pm.
Since we had purchased 2 cars, we (Paul, Lenny, & myself) were all in separate cars driving home. Paul & I were following Lenny. Paul & I lost Lenny on the way. So we both pulled over & in panic mode.
But everything did fall into place & we all got home safely.
Paul told his sister Debbie “I will never do that again”. So several months later as a Joke, I called Paul and said “Paul, I need to go back to the car auction, will you please go with me?” He said “Yeah, just let me know when you’re going”.
His heart was much bigger than he was.
Paul’s presence in a family gathering always added so much, because of his wonderful sense of humor & also his sensitivity in serious moments.
You just can’t put into words how great some people are. How special they are. How much you would miss those simple moments...the ones we all take for granted. And sometimes don’t realize it until they are no longer around to have another laugh with or someone who makes you feel like you’re important just by a few simple heartfelt words.
Paul Jr....You also helped take care of me when I was sick & you drove to Cumberland to pick me up to take me to OUR Mom’s for Christmas 2009.
Paul Jr. was an extraordinary man.
You were a brother to me & I love you,
Cheryl

I met Paul Dec. of 2006 and immediatley knew he was a righteous man. I had the pleasure of being around him on two other family occasion's. He invited me to his home at my convenience and was never able to, because of my work schedule, I will regret for the rest of my life not making the time to go, for I have and will miss the pleasure of being around that man. Men like Paul are not many in this world and it was an Honor to know him.fA

The Bennear Family; I knew Paul well many years ago; kids playing on Shady Side. Paul came to the funeral home in Dec 09 when I lost my brother. He hadn't changed a bit from what I remember him. I could have picked him out of any crowd. My thoughts and prayers are with Paul's family. Elaine

I am truely in SHOCK! I just heard this from one of our mutual friends on Facebook. I just spoke to Paul at Christmas, our one-time a year ritual for as you probably know we remained friends throughout these years. Even my moving to Florida didn't stop us, still we remained friends. Prayers and PEACE to you and your family and to Paul. I will never forget my friend. Jeanie Bohon, Lakeland FL

P.S. A poem that I'd like to share...
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little-but not too long
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love that we once shared
Miss me-but let me go
For this is a journey that we all must take
And each must go alone.
It's all part of the Master's plan
A step on the road to home
When you are lonely and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know
Laugh at all the things we used to do
Miss me- but let me go.

Dear Debbie, Dolly, Mark, Kevin & Angie
I was so sorry to hear about Paul Jr.'s death. Every time I saw Paul I thought of your Dad. No matter how long in between times that I saw him - he always remembered me and spoke. And asked about everyone. He was a very kind and generous person -- always willing to lend a hand -- no matter what he might have to do.
Debbie - you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Just remember that he is in a far better place now - seeing family and friends.
I'll be up this weekend. Hope to see you then.

Dear Debbie, Dolly, and Family-
I am so saddened by the news of Paul Jr.'s death. I wish I could be there today for his service today. Please know that I am thinking of all of you and keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
Deb: I will be home for the 3 day weekend; perhaps I will see you on Memorial Day. Paul Jr. was always the kindest, sweetest thing to me when I would stay with you. I know you must be aching. He and Jimmy were a lot alike--now, they can play some shenanigans together again!
love,
Diane

Deb,
So sorry to hear about Paul. I only met him one time, but that was all it took for me to tell what a good person he was. (Although it hurts deeply; Sometimes our plans and God's plans seem to be so far apart, but we know God's plans are the best.) You and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

My Mom (Stella Dawson) just called me and asked me to leave a message for her. She wanted me to tell you how sorry she is for your loss. I remember how much my Dad(Fred Dawson) enjoyed being around Paul Jr. and I remember seeing him frequently when I was younger. My Dad always said Paul was not just family but one of his best friends! They are now together again!
Leroy also wants to send his love to Dolly and the rest of the family.
Our prayers are with you in this difficult time.
Love-
Stella and Tommy Dawson

Paul's memory will forever be with us. The "good times" on "B-Corner" at Wapocoma Campground can never be replaced. Paul is a genuine man of his word. Never did he hesitate to help another friend. His unselfish demeanor was a trait that can never be replaced.
The memories I will forever remember:
Paul's face the day I accidentally stuck myself in the thumb with an epipen. It was so scary, yet funny now that it was over. He stood side-by-side making sure that I was okay.
Paul's first canoe ride down the South Branch. He was my navigator and got us safely home. Even had fun taking a swing from the rope over the big oak tree into the river.
The evenings around the camp fire at Mike and Betty's. Mike sure could build a fire in a "rain storm".
Listening to the old country music tunes and remembering the mischief those songs made us remember.
The help Paul provided when we built my camp shed.
The night Paul thought his golf cart ended up in the river. Of course we all was behind playing that trick on him.
None of us will forget the night Paul staggered back to his camp and said "excuse me" to one of the trees in Mike and Betty's camp lot.
Then there was the time I snuck up behind him with a fire extinguisher and sprayed him good. He jumped so high. We both laughed so hard.
The final memory that I had was just a few weeks ago when I flew home to see my camping buddies. Betty made this new type of hot dog. It was huge. Paul casually named it the "hot dog hoagie".
It is so sad to know that your presence will no longer grace us at camp. You were such a great friend. One that will always be remembered and missed.

So sorry for your loss. Paul will be missed by all. My fondest memory of him is from the day of my Pap Dawson's funeral. When Paul stopped by his casket as we were all leaving the church, he stopped & saluted Pap good-bye. I have always thought that was such a respectable thing to do. May God bless you all and help you find the comfort you need.
