In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Shirley Upole and husband David Mountain of Oakland; two nieces, Amanda Upole and Natalie Upole; and three nephews, David, Denny and Dean Broadwater. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Woodrow P. Upole, Jr. on September 29, 2013.
