Hello everyone, my name is Jauhar Hashmi. David was a close friend of mine from the 80’s. We worked together doing night shifts as claims examiner. He was extremely bright and had a knack for making jokes all the time. We went to many rock concerts then. We also lived together for two years in Alexandria, VA. I had visited Dave in Oakland many times and had known their lovely extended family. I lost track of Dave during his employment years. I met him again after his medical retirement. I was always very fond of Dave and later in the years kept in touch. I learned about his passing away much later in the year during my long travels. Dave introduced me to everything American. He had profound love for his country it was in full display in his younger years. He always defended America in his discussions. I will miss many things about Dave Hinebaugh. His love for Mechanics and anything that had a manual would be devoured by Dave. He had a very extensive collection of digital music when it was unheard of. This included everything from A to Z. He willingly shared that with me. He positively influenced me in a lot of ways. On one fine birthday of mine, he gifted me 8 credit course at Northern Virginia Community College. He also knew my family well in India. Unfortunately all my family has passed away and I the last one. I will so much miss Dave’s love, care, friendship his and smile. RIP

I met David in the 1980's when he was living in the UK. We met by chance in a pub and struck up a friendship that lasted for many years until we lost touch in the mid 1990's.
I remember a kind and generous man who I enjoyed spending time with. He was a great chef and cooked me some fantastic meals... He was also a dab hand with the barbecue! He loved playing his music loud and introduced me to many artists I had never heard of - many I still listen to today. I remember that Robert cray became a favourite. We went together to many gigs - always happy times.
I decided today to try and track him down and was dismayed to find his obituary. I would like to pass on my deepest sympathy to his family - who he spoke of often. He was a wonderful man and I will miss him. God bless you david.

My deepest condolences to the family, you all had a wonderful man. My memories as a child he always had a smile on his face and making me smile and laugh with his tickle monster attacks, building boxes, planting tomatoes, and fishing in Panama. In Hawai we also played hide and seek in the house and walking to the park that was close by, in England our house smelled like a bakery because we bought a bread machine and we did the best pretzels. I miss the snow ball fighting and feeding the birds. All my childhood (3-9 years old) was amazing thanks to him and he will always have a special place in my heart. He was a great father to me and I always wonder how his life after became after time went by. Life changes and I would always try to find him! Im just so sad that i found him a little bit too late to thank him for everything but i know in my heart that he is in a better place and doing all his favorite things God bless you all and i will always have you all in my prayers because he was a great man!

My sincerest condolences to the Hinebaugh family. It's very few that can say that they have had a friend for over thirty years. David made that possible for me and I'm thankful. May David RIP.

I wanted to extend sincere condolences to Dave\'s family. I met Dave in France and worked with him there and in Sicily. I remember spending a day with him up on Mt Etna driving around in his silver Audi TT. He had asked if I would photograph the automobile with the volcano as background. I am sorry to hear about your loss. He will be missed.

My wife Linda and I would like to send our sincerest heartfelt condolences to Dave\'s family and friends. I worked with Dave in France and other places and always considered him a very good friend, we had some terrific times together both on and off the job, this is heart breaking news indeed. We shared a great love of \"Vettes\", and talked about our cars often. Again our sincerest condolences and fond wishes.
RIP Dave,
Your friend Gerry
