Dearest family, I am so sorry to hear of your recent loss. Through hard times such as these it is comforting to look to the hope God has provided us for the very near future. Notice what the Bible says at Revelation 21:4. It says there, "and He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more. Neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore, the former things have passed away." What a wonderful time that will be. A time when pain, suffering, and death will be unheard of. We will see this promise fulfilled in the very near future. Wishing you all much comfort through this difficult time.

Even though it's been over half a century, I remember Miss Brock from the Oakland library very well. She was exceptional and Garrett County was lucky to have her as their librarian. She taught us the power of books and reading.

Miss Brock drove the bookmobile to the small coal mining town of Vindex and give me along with a lot of other kids a precious gift, a love for reading! My mom made us get all cleaned up and dressed in our Sunday best for "The Bookmobile Lady"! She was always so kind to each of us and helped every child choose just the right book! In my teen years Miss Brock and I once again crossed paths. This time she became my boss. I was the librarian for the Kitzmiller Branch of the Ruth Enlow Library. I can honestly say Miss Brock as "The Bookmobile Lady" and as my boss were exactly the same kind, gentle lady! Garrett County was blessed to have had you, Miss Brock! You will be missed!

I will always remember Miss Brock with the greatest fondness and respect. She was always so helpful and she even tolerated us teenagers on Wednesday nights when we were "studying." She instilled the love of books in so many of us when we were children.

Ms. Brock was one of the sweetest persons that I knew as a young child. When I was in elementary school at the North Glade Elementary School she would drive the bookmobile to our school so that we could check out books to read. I told her on numerous occasions when I was older that due to her encouragement I developed the love for reading. She would encourage you to select a book on a subject that interested you. RIP MS Brock

Miss Brock hired me to drive the bookmobile and run the Community Libraries in Garrett County. It was my first professional job right out of college. I first met Edith when I went to the bookmobile as a child in Deer Park. She remembered me and hired me in 1976. I have always had the greatest respect for her as a mentor. She co-signed a loan for me when I bought my first (used) car. I was so thankful for her trust in me. She was so proud of the library and the librarians. She loved the library patrons and went out of her way to serve them. She will not be forgotten.
