He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Phyllis (Willard) Ashby; children, Shelby Witt of Cumberland, Rayetta Beitzel and husband Bob of Oakland, Joe Ashby, Jr. and wife Diane of Oakland, Willard and wife Billie Jo of Oakland and Susan Hopkins and husband Mike of Hedgesville, WV; grandchildren, Kindra Davis, Wendy Lewis, Scott Beitzel, Marlana Roach, Jamie Ashby, Annie Ross, Katy Roderick, Brittany German, Dustin Slider, Jeanette Bland, Justin and Harmony Hahn, Kandi Ashby, Willard, Krissy and Nickolas Ashby; fifteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and a sister, Caroline Pase of GA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian Mersing and Rachel Sue Evans; and two brothers, Dorsey Ashby, Jr. and Walter Ashby.
