He is survived by his wife, Ethel Mae (Kirk) Friend; two sons, Kenneth D. Friend and wife Florence of Corinth, WV and Matthew D. Friend of TN; two daughters, Linda S. Huffman and husband Arden of Harmon, WV and Patty L. Johnson and husband Jim of Shawsville, VA; a stepson, Wayne Soult of NC; a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters, Alice and Lou; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, an infant Roger D. and Clyde; and three sisters, Alta, Olive and Jane.
