He expected a lot. It made you appreciate acknowledgement, eg you earned it.

There are many other appropriate positive attributes too numerous to list here. We will miss him greatly. May God bless the Kight family during this difficult time. It was a true honor to be a member of the Blue Band, under Mr. Kight's direction. He was a remarkable person, teaching discipline, respect, and
a sincere appreciation for music. Although I only had Mr. Kight my freshman year, many of the high ideals he taught carry forward with me today. He had a way of bringing out the best in you, while making the journey so precious. Even Mr. Kight called me "Peanut"...and it still makes me smile today! Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with Eddie and all the family. Mr. Kight
was a treasure to us all.

My sympathy to the entire Kight family. I am a 1961 graduate of WHS and my late husband and I had Mr. Kight as a band director during our years of high school. He was a great teacher and director. Most of all he administered discipline which taught us to be respectful not only to Mr. Kight, but to everyone in our lives, which I am sorry today is not being taught. We need more "Uncle Harry Kights" in this world. He was loved very much by all and will be truly missed.

Not only was Mr. Kight an exceptional player, but an excellent director and educator. An exceptionally rare talent. Taking a High School band and turning it into a award winning concert band. He didn't play favorites and treated everybody equally. Many qualified experts have touted that they couldn't tell the difference. Between The Blue Band under his direction and a professional concert band. A feat that has never been equaled before or since. May Eddie and his family find comfort at this time. In celebrating the life and above all, the integrity of this truly blessed man.

WHS class of '67, flute and piccolo player ( still have them!) in the Blue Band's BEST era. Best part of school was the band, hands down. Mr K taught us how to work as a group, we traveled to NYC, FL (first time in WHS Blue Band history) and the tristate area, competing and winning! He worked so hard to see that we were exposed to new places and events.

I was so sorry to hear of Mr. Kight's passing. I graduated from WHS in '68. I was recently visiting in MD (now live in NH) and had lunch with a group from school; his name came up at lunch. He was our one constant through elementary, jr and sr high. He never got upset with the band members - and believe me, there were times he should have. I was always proud to be a member of the band. We were such a small school in comparison to others in the area but we always had a large presence - all due to Mr. Kight and his wonderful direction. He will be missed by everyone he ever taught.
