Aunt Janice was like a second mother to me, due in part to proximity but mostly due to her loving friendly nature. As a child and as an adult too, I found her kindness to be unrelenting. I spent many a night at her house. She insisted on cooking, especially for relatives, but she set that aside many times when I’d visit as a kid and wanted to order pizza. I’d trade a year of pizza for one of those home cooked meals now. Despite many a meal, I don’t recall ever seeing a recipe card - she did it from memory. She helped me study for French exams in high school. My second son is named after her late husband Jim, who I remember well. With my own kids, she was just as kind and always tried to keep abreast of their activities. We all will miss her.
