Obituary of Edith Delaine Browning *

Edith Delaine “Edie” (Fauber) Browning passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Dennett Road Manor. Born on March 15th, 1924, in Erwin, WV, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Maude (Sanders) Fauber. Prior to her marriage, when she became a full time housewife, she worked for the Bell Telephone Company as a telephone operator and also for the Garrett County Board of Education. She was an award winning painter with most of her art displayed in various venues throughout the area. She was also an expert gardener and had many different flower beds with many different beautiful flowers. In addition, her apple pies, oatmeal cookies, and chocolate cake were locally famous. She is survived by her three sons and one daughter, Robert Browning and wife Jeannie of Oakland, Donald M. Browning, Jr. and wife Karen of Palm Beach, Florida, James Browning and wife Charlene of St. Petersburg Beach, Florida, and her daughter, Paula Browning, of Terra Alta, WV; ten grandchildren, Christopher Brake, Harry Browning, Patrick Browning, Nikki Delisio, Michael Browning, Wenquin Shan, Laurie Sloan, Joshua Browning, Christie Duran and Cherie Browning; twenty-two great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; two brothers and two sisters, Harry Fauber of Florida, Albert Marl Fauber of Virginia, Pauline McKinney of Petersburg, VA, and Nina Culver of Connellsville, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Donald M. Browning, Sr. Friends will be received at the C & S FREDLOCK FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Friday, March 10th from 5 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held in St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 318 E Oak St., Oakland on Saturday, March 11th at 11 AM. Interment will follow in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Garrett County Arts Council, PO Box 633, Oakland, MD 21550; Oakland Volunteer Fire Dept., PO Box 43, Oakland, MD 21550; Southern Rescue Squad, PO Box 378, Oakland, MD 21550; or to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
