He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Debra (Boone) McCartney, who had been the love of his life for the past 20 years; his children, Randi “Susie” Brantner and husband Michael of Oakland, John McCartney and wife Karla of Columbus, OH and Billy McCartney and wife Michelle of Hagerstown; stepchildren, Kris Upole of Oakland, Erica LaRue and husband Tony of Morgantown, WV and Ryan Upole and wife Kari of Oakland; eleven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a brother, John “Skip” McCartney and wife Susan of Oakland; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy (DeWitt) McCartney and a son, Ernest “Petey” McCartney.
